About
James Lawson Drummond was from a Presbyterian family in Larne, served as a surgeon in the Royal Navy, and was an important figure in the medical and cultural life of Belfast. Eliza was of a Catholic family (though she herself was Church of Ireland), with roots in Breifne (modern-day County Leitrim), but long resident at Ballybollan, near Ahoghill. The tour will include visits to several churches and graveyards in Ahoghill to view the recently restored grave of the Drummonds and to learn more about how church records and gravestone inscriptions can provide vital information for family history research.
The tour will be led by Dr William Roulston, Research Director at the Ulster Historical Foundation.
Maximum number on tour 15, suitable footwear advised.
