About
Hessian Rag Rug Craft Workshop
Come along and learn a rag rug technique and create a bespoke piece that uses a hessian base and recycled fabric strips.
Session: 11:00 to 12:30
Workshop Overview
The traditional rag rug was used by women in the cottages of Ireland to create warmth and décor for their homes. Participants will use a hooking technique and colourful fabric strips to create their piece to take home.
Please note we will be using hessian in case anyone is allergic to this fabric. All materials will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear older clothes as the hessian fibres attach to fabric.
Suitable For Beginners and experienced crafters.
Participants leave with a completed sample piece that can be used as a pot holder, a festival decoration or placed in a box frame for décor. If you wish to make a large rag rug, you will leave with the skills to continue at home.
Price £10 per adult.
