About

Biodiversity University: A Wild Week of Family Fun in Nature

From Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 August 2025, families are invited to take part in Biodiversity University at EcosHub Park, Ballymena—an engaging series of outdoor sessions designed to connect children and adults with the wonders of the natural world. Running daily from 10am to 12 noon, each session offers hands-on activities that bring the environment to life through play, exploration, and creativity. Booking is essential as places are limited. Reserve your spot here: https://orlo.uk/bryri

Each day presents a unique theme. On Tuesday, participants will learn survival skills, including how to construct shelters using natural materials and forage for wild ingredients to prepare a warming woodland drink. Wednesday focuses on trees and bugs, with activities that teach families how to identify native trees and explore the miniature world of insects during a guided mini-beast walk. Thursday’s session centres on forest games and natural art, giving children the chance to discover how animals hunt through games and to create their own nature-inspired artwork using foraged materials.

All children must be accompanied by a parent or carer throughout the sessions. Attendees are encouraged to check the weather forecast in advance and dress appropriately for outdoor conditions. Activities may be adjusted depending on the weather or environmental conditions at the site.

Biodiversity University offers a memorable opportunity for families to learn together and enjoy the outdoors.
