About

A special book launch with Stephen Walker and Declan Lawn.

To mark the publication of ‘David Trimble: Peacemaker,‘ Stephen Walker and Declan Lawn will talk about the life and legacy of Lord Trimble, who was First Minister and a Nobel Laureate.

David Trimble negotiated the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and helped to secure peace in Northern Ireland.

In the first biography to chart Trimble’s life and death, award winning journalist Stephen Walker vividly details how this shy Belfast academic changed the political landscape of Northern Ireland. ‘David Trimble: Peacemaker‘ written with the cooperation of the Trimble family has been described by the Irish Times as a ‘political page turner.’

Stephen and Declan are both from Ballymena and worked together as reporters with BBC Northern Ireland's programme, 'Spotlight.'

Declan also worked for the BBC One programme 'Panorama.' He is now a successful screenwriter and is the creator and writer of the popular 'Blue Lights' series on BBC One.

Stephen, who is a former BBC Political Correspondent, is the author of five acclaimed books. His last book ‘John Hume: The Persuader,‘ was a best-selling biography of the Nobel Laureate. It was published by Gill Books in 2023 when Stephen and Declan both appeared at a sold-out event at the Braid Arts Centre.

This promises to be an entertaining evening full of political insight and humour!

This Q&A event will take place in the Atrium of the Braid Arts Centre.
