About

A Chef & Sommelier Husband and Wife Bistro by the Sea. A true Bistro in every sense.

The Lighthouse Bistro is a little hidden gem right beside the sea and just one minutes walk from the train station and a two minute walk from Blackhead Lighthouse coastal path. It is also right beside one of the UK and Irelands most colourful and Instagramable promenades. Serving quality food with wine, craft beers and ales, it has visitors from all over the world who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and is a favourite spot with the lovely locals.

The Chef - The Lighthouse Bistro is run by chef proprietor Joni Lutzman, a die hard chef that believes everything should be made from scratch and  locally sourced where possible. He cooks French style with a Nordic touch, in a nod to his roots. His career started in 1986 as a commis chef in Helsinki and spanned several years across fine dining, tapas and traditional style cuisine. He also studied part time at the University of Helsinki and mastered in Languages. He has won the restaurant several awards and has featured in many newspaper articles such as The Belfast Telegraph, the Newsletter, NI Farm Week, The Carrickfergus Times and the Sunday Life restaurant reviews.

Front of House Manager /Sommelier - Native Erica runs the front of house and has and completed her wine exams up to WSET3. She holds wine tastings throughout the year which are generous and fun. She believes there is a wine is for everyone!  Erica loves running the front of house and has provided a warm, relaxed and casual dining experience since 2018 where everyone is welcome.
