YOUR VISIT TO CARRICKFERGUS CASTLE
We want you and those accompanying you to have a safe and enjoyable experience at Carrickfergus Castle.
It is important that you observe all regulatory and other signs at Carrickfergus Castle and follow any safety instructions given by castle staff.
STATE CARE MONUMENT
Carrickfergus Castle is a State Care Monument under the guardianship of the Department for Communities. The site is protected under the Historic Monuments and Archaeological Object (Northern Ireland) Order 1995. Any persons causing damage to the site may be liable to criminal prosecution. PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- Mind your head. Be aware that the castle has doorways and ceilings with reduced head room.
- Take care in areas of the castle with slippery or uneven surfaces or steps.
- Take care in exposed areas of the castle during adverse weather conditions.
- Weather along the coast can change suddenly, you may wish to consider clothing and footwear suitable for all possible weather conditions.
- Be aware that there may be conservation work going on at the castle. All health and safety signs must be observed.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- No animals except working dogs are permitted on the castle site.
- Climbing is not permitted anywhere on the castle site (including on the cannons).
- Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
- Management may refuse entry to, or eject visitors from Carrickfergus Castle for abusive, threatening, drunken or other antisocial behaviour (including smoking in no smoking areas), causing a nuisance, carrying offensive weapons or illegal substances, or making unauthorised audio, video or photographic recordings. No refund will be given.
CANCELLATIONS BY MANAGEMENT AND REFUNDS
- Carrickfergus Castle may be closed by management at short notice due to changes in the weather or for operational reasons and we will endeavour to contact you prior to your visit if this is the case.
- If you need to cancel your scheduled ticket, we require at least 72 hours written notice. Please contact visitorinformation@midandeastantrim.gov.uk in the event of a cancellation.
- In both instances we will reschedule your visit onto the next suitable date or issue a gift voucher which is valid for one year.
- A full or partial refund will only be available in exceptional circumstances, following a request in writing by the visitor to the email address below.
