"Snow in Leiden", the latest book by local author, Angeline King, is being launched at Larne Museum & Arts Centre on Friday 25th September 2026.
"Snow in Leiden"
The Dutch Republic, 1685. Cassie and Gilbert arrive in Leiden as refugees, having fled religious persecution and the 'Killing Times' in Scotland. Backed by the Scottish Kirk in Rotterdam, they set up a printing press to fight for religious freedom. While Cassie finds her voice in a bustling university town, writing and distributing covert pamphlets on women's anatomy, she cannot escape the watchful eyes of her kirk or her patron. She cannot escape her marital inheritance.
About the Author
Angeline King is a critically acclaimed Irish novelist. Her work has received recognition for its sharp social commentary and 'delightfully funny' prose. Angeline's novels blend coming-of age drama with genealogical adventure and international perspectives on Northern Ireland. Her poems and short stories have been published in a range of national publications.
Born in Larne, Angeline has lived in France, the Netherlands and America and also spent a significant portion of her twenties and thirties travelling with work or living abroad. She adopted her maiden name, King, for her writing career in 2015.
