Rites of Passage Exhibition

Larne Museum & Arts Centre, 2 Victoria Road, Larne, County Antrim, BT40 1RN
Rites of Passage

About

A new exhibition by Mid and East Antrim Museum & Heritage Service which explores our common experience of birth and death and, for many, the life changing experience of getting married.

A fascinating display of objects from the Council's three museums will show how these life defining moments have been experienced communally by past generations of local people within their family and community.

The exhibition asks, how do their customs and rituals still shape our modern experience? How much have we retained and how much have we changed what we believe about these life stages and how we should mark them?

The exhibition will be on display from Saturday 8 November until Tuesday 23 December 2025, and includes Saturday opening on 8 November and 6 December. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 10.00am – 4.00pm.

For more information, please contact Larne Museum & Arts Centre on +44 (0) 28 2826 2443 or e-mail marian.kelso@midandeastantrim.gov.uk.
