The Royal Landing 2026

About

The historic town of Carrickfergus is once again preparing to host one of the most anticipated events in the cultural calendar, as The Royal Landing returns on Saturday 13 June 2026.

In recent years, the Royal Landing has expanded significantly, evolving into a vibrant, family-friendly festival that showcases history, heritage and community spirit, attracting thousands of visitors from across Northern Ireland and beyond. At its heart lies the commemoration and re-enactment of the landing of King William III in 1690.

The day's proceedings will begin with a colourful parade through the streets of Carrickfergus. Lodges, bands and participants will take part in a spectacle that reflects pride in heritage and identity, while also offering a warm welcome to visitors experiencing the event for the first time. The parade remains a central feature, drawing spectators who line the route to enjoy the music, pageantry and sense of occasion.

Parades will leave their respective assembly points at approximately 11:30am, with the historic landing expected to take place at 1:00pm at King William III Pier. Following the landing, King William III will lead the parade through the town on his iconic white horse, making its way to Marine Gardens, where proceedings are expected to conclude at around 2:00pm.

During the afternoon break, attendees can enjoy the Royal Landing Tattoo event at Carrickfergus Town Hall from 2:15pm, featuring musical talent, children's entertainment, and cultural performances. In addition, live music and entertainment will take place throughout the town centre and beyond, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The second half of the parade will begin at 4:00pm from Marine Gardens, proceeding through the town before finishing at approximately 5:00pm at Woodburn Playing Fields.

Beyond the parade, the town will come alive with a wide array of attractions designed to appeal to all ages. A bustling food village will offer a diverse selection of local produce and refreshments, while dedicated family entertainment areas will ensure younger visitors are fully engaged throughout the day. From live performances to interactive activities, there will be no shortage of things to see and do.

For those with an interest in history, the historical and re-enactment zones provide a fascinating glimpse into the past. Skilled re-enactors and exhibitors will recreate scenes and stories from the Williamite period, offering educational and engaging experiences that deepen understanding of the events being commemorated.

We encourage visitors to arrive early, take time to enjoy the traditional music, support the town centre, and experience the full range of entertainment on offer throughout the day.

As Saturday 13 June approaches, anticipation is building once again.

Whether attending for the first time or returning as part of an annual tradition, the Royal Landing promises a day filled with colour, culture and community in the historic setting of Carrickfergus.
