The Courses: Where Every Round is a Winner

Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Gracehill

In addition to The Open in Portrush, another golfing spectacle is set for Galgorm in 2025, as the prestigious NI Legends Open makes its debut from 28–31 August as part of the global Legends Tour! Set against the stunning backdrop of the 17th-century Jacobean castle and a 450-acre estate, Galgorm’s renowned Castle Course has hosted 19 professional tournaments, including the Irish Open and ISPS HANDA World Invitational. This year, the Legends Tour brings together Ryder Cup heroes, Major winners, and golfing icons for a thrilling new event, with amateurs also getting the unique chance to tee off alongside their heroes in the one-of-a-kind pro-am experience. Whether you’re here to soak up the championship action or inspired to play the course yourself, Galgorm is the place to witness world-class golf and enjoy legendary Irish hospitality-don’t miss your chance to be part of the excitement! The setting is tranquil, and the on-site restaurant makes it easy to linger long after your final putt.

Bentra Golf Course, Whitehead

A local favourite, Bentra is a mature 9-hole municipal course—once the longest 9-hole course in Europe, now the longest in Ireland. With wide fairways, avenues of grand old trees, and some challenging long holes, it’s perfect for both beginners and seasoned players. The setting is stunning, with views over Islandmagee, Larne Lough, and Muldersleigh Hill. There’s a mini-golf course for a bit of light-hearted competition, and the Bentra Grill next door is ideal for a post-round feast.

Ballymena Golf Club, Broughshane

Set against the legendary Slemish Mountain, this 18-hole heathland course offers year-round play and a warm welcome. The layout is short but challenging, with well-bunkered greens and six demanding par 3s. The clubhouse features a restaurant, bar, and even a snooker hall—perfect for unwinding after your round.

Cairndhu Golf Club, Ballygally

Arguably Ireland’s most scenic course, Cairndhu is perched above the coast with jaw-dropping views of the Scottish islands and Glens of Antrim. The parkland layout weaves through mature woodland and rolling hills, offering a test for all skill levels. The hospitality is legendary, with excellent food and snacks served in the clubhouse restaurant.

Whitehead Golf Club, Whitehead

Another gem in Whitehead, this 18-hole course offers the best of both worlds—links-style golf on the top nine and parkland on the bottom. The vistas are spectacular, stretching across Belfast Lough to Scotland. The club prides itself on its friendly atmosphere, excellent bar and restaurant, and a fully stocked pro shop.

Greenisland Golf Club, Greenisland

A mature 9-hole parkland course, Greenisland is known for its warm welcome and challenging layout. With a stream crossing several fairways and mature trees lining the course, accuracy is rewarded. It’s a great spot for a relaxed round, with affordable green fees and a friendly local vibe

This pleasant parkland course sits right on the shoreline of Belfast Lough, offering great views and a good mix of holes. Water features and subtle greens add to the challenge. The modern clubhouse is a great place to relax, with a pro shop and tuition available for those looking to sharpen their game.

Larne Golf Club, Larne

Located on Islandmagee, Larne Golf Club is a 9-hole/18-tee course that blends parkland and links styles. Signature holes like ‘The Bell’ and ‘Whins’ offer both challenge and breathtaking coastal scenery. The clubhouse boasts panoramic views—perfect for a celebratory drink after a round well played.
