Carrickfergus Castle - crowds of kids and adults in period costumes.

About

The re-enactment of Schomberg’s Siege of Carrickfergus is taking place bank holiday Monday 31 August.

This free event will include over 40 re-enactors from across the United Kingdom, all dressed in period costume, followed by a pageantry parade to meet King William at the pier!

As well as the live cannon and musket firing, residents and visitors will be able to visit the historical military encampments making the Siege an event not to be missed.

The Siege of Carrickfergus artisan market will host 15 speciality producers, including familiar favourites who attend the Carrickfergus monthly artisan market, alongside new local producers.

The market offers a wide range of exciting products to include baked goods, embroidered art, aromatherapy oils, hand-crafted homeware, as well as tasty homemade treats for your canine friends.

Council has included something to keep all the family entertained with archery, a climbing wall, sensory play areas, falconry displays, and a range of intruiging entertainers.

Please note: Loud firing will occur from 12.30pm to 1.30pm/1.45pm, and at 3pm/3.15pm upon re-enactment finish.
