About
Discover a fascinating glimpse into everyday life at this unique local museum, home to over 8,000 objects reflecting the lives of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. Many of the items were collected by Dr Tony Redmond, who rescued everyday objects during his rounds—items that might otherwise have been lost. New pieces continue to be added, keeping the collection alive and evolving.
Visitors can explore displays that highlight the industries, housing, interests and lives of people in the Braid Valley, alongside objects connected to the wider locality. A special section tells the story of the Siege of Ladysmith, honouring local hero Sir George White and his role in this historic event.
For EHOD, enjoy a self-guided visit and take time to explore the collection at your own pace, discovering the rich social history and personal stories that make this museum such a memorable experience.
