About
To celebrate European Heritage Open Days 2026, irish Landmark Trust will open The Barbican in Glenarm on Sunday 13th September from 10am to 4pm. This is a free event and an opportunity to explore a miniature medieval-style castle that once guarded the entrance to Glenarm Castle Estate. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour of this unique structure, including its dramatic turreted rooftop with views over the village and sea. As an educational charity, our mission is to save, share and sustain Ireland’s built heritage. Over the past thirty years, we have conserved and taken care of 33 quirky, eccentric, and distinctive buildings across Ireland. Our properties range from lighthouses and schoolhouses, to castles and gate lodges.
